Eyes crusted with mucus counting the window pains

Something has severed the link between me and the world outside
All I can do is lay and stare, as objects become meaningless washes of color in air
And then I hear a voice in my head
Projected from another physical plane
It reminisces of laughter and joy
Afternoons on the playground screamin’ and playin’
